Dramatic developments took place in the course of this runout. Shubhman Gill played the third ball of the fourth over off Arshadeep into the short fine leg. However the fielder was there at the time.
But not realizing it, non-striker Nitish Rana ran towards the striking end. Although Gill did not say the same for the run, Rana went on as if he was running to the other end without any real thought. The two batsmen here did not realize that someone would have to lose a wicket, except to think that they could save themselves from being run out. The damage was done before Nitish Rana could look back into the nonsticker end. When Mohammed Shami saw the direct hit, it was missed. At that point, Puran received the ball smartly and smashed the non-styler's end wickets. With that Nitish Rana went to the pavilion as a burden.
