PALAKKAD: Renowned Malayalam artist and Jnanpith victor Mahakavi Akkitham Achuthan Namboodiri died on Thursday. He was 94. Akkitham, who was admitted to a private emergency clinic in Thrissur on Tuesday night, inhaled his last at around 8:10 am, his nearby family members said.
He had been admitted to the emergency unit he created urinary issues alongside liver and lung contaminations. He had been oblivious since the time his confirmation.

From 1950-52 he was secretary and president from 1953-54 of the Kendra Kala Samithi situated in Ponnani. This Samithi had a major task to carry out in advancing show in Kerala. It later formed into the Malabar Kendra Kala Samithi.
